Privacy Policy

We collect what we need to run Spacelet, we don't sell your personal information, and you can ask us to delete it at any time. Here are the details.

1. Information you give us

  • Account details: your email address, and the name, phone number and role you choose to add.
  • Property claims: the property, your relationship to it, and anything you share to help us verify it.
  • Listings: descriptions, prices, availability, photos and other content you add.
  • Bookings: the dates, length and purpose of bookings you request or host, and payment details, which go directly to our payment processor, Stripe. We receive limited information such as the card brand and last four digits, never full card numbers.
  • Payouts: if you receive payouts, Stripe collects identity, tax and bank details to verify you and pay you. We receive your payout status, not your full bank details.
  • Messages and requests: information you submit when you request a report by email, join a waitlist, send a space request or sign up for updates, such as your name, email, phone number and message.

2. Information we collect automatically

  • Addresses you look up with the Activation Report and the reports generated for them.
  • Technical information such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, which we use for security, rate limiting and to understand how the Service is used.
  • Cookies that keep you signed in.
  • Analytics and advertising cookies and similar technologies from Google (Google Analytics) and Meta (the Meta Pixel), which record pages visited and actions such as requesting a report or joining a waitlist. We use them to understand how Spacelet is used and to measure and improve our ads, including showing Spacelet ads to people who have visited our site. We don't send them your name, email or the addresses you look up.

3. Information from other sources

Activation Reports combine publicly available records about properties (such as zoning, building and permit records published by New York City) with market data and our own analysis. Property records can include the name of an owner of record as published by the city.

4. How we use information

  • to provide the Service, including generating reports, verifying property claims, publishing listings and passing waitlist sign-ups and requests to owners;
  • to send service emails, such as sign-in links, report summaries, claim updates and notifications you've asked for;
  • to send occasional updates if you opt in (you can unsubscribe at any time);
  • to keep the Service secure, prevent abuse and enforce our Terms;
  • to improve the Service, including our analysis and pricing models, using aggregated or de-identified information where practical; and
  • to comply with law.

5. How we share information

We don't sell your personal information for money. We share it only:

  • with owners, when you join a waitlist or send a request about their listing (your name, email and message);
  • between the two sides of a booking: owners see the renter's email, dates and message; renters see the owner's email and the space's exact address once a booking is confirmed;
  • with Stripe, to process payments and payouts and to prevent fraud, under Stripe's own privacy policy;
  • publicly, for content you choose to publish in a listing (listings show an approximate location, not the exact address);
  • with service providers that host the Service, store data, send email, run AI processing or provide data, under contracts that limit their use of it;
  • with Google and Meta, through the analytics and advertising technologies described above. Some state privacy laws treat this as "selling" or "sharing" personal information for targeted advertising;
  • if required by law or to protect the rights, safety and property of Spacelet, our users or others; and
  • in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to this policy.

6. Analytics and advertising choices

You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on, and manage how Meta uses information for ads in your Facebook or Instagram ad preferences. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we don't load the Meta Pixel. To opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of your information, contact us at spacelet.com/contact.

7. Retention

We keep information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and afterwards as needed to comply with law, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. Cached reports are refreshed periodically.

8. Your choices and rights

You can update most account and listing details yourself. You can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal information, or to stop sending you updates, through our contact form at spacelet.com/contact (choose "Privacy or data request"). Depending on where you live (for example, California), you may have additional rights under local law; we'll honor requests as the law requires and won't discriminate against you for making them.

9. Security

We use reasonable safeguards, including encryption in transit, access controls and database rules that limit who can read what. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

10. Children

The Service isn't intended for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. We'll change the date above and, for material changes, give notice through the Service or by email.
